What is a domain name?

An easy to remember name used to access websites. With a domain name, instead of having to type a hard to remember IP address to access a website, you can use the domain as the name and address of the website instead.

With shared hosting, a domain name is crucial as your website will not be accessible without a domain name, since it is a shared IP address.
