Set up my email in Gmail

Gmail allows you to add your cPanel email account to Gmail webmail using the POP3 protocol, so you can conveniently check both accounts in one place. It will act as an email client; you can add several accounts to the Gmail interface.

This approach is preferable to email forwarding. Suppose the email address established in your cPanel account receives a substantial amount of spam emails, and you have set up a mail forwarder to route them to Gmail. In that case, there is a risk that Gmail might label your cPanel server as a source of spam and initiate mail blocking from your cPanel server.

This guide describes how to set up cPanel email in Gmail.

1. Once logged in to your Gmail account, click Settings > See all settings.
2. Click Accounts and Import.
3. Click Add a mail account under Check mail from other accounts.
4. Input the email address you want to link, then click Next.
5. Select Link account with Gmail (Gmailify), then click Next.
6. Next, configure the settings as follows.
Username: full cPanel email address
Password: password for your email account
POP Server: the server your account is hosted on
Port: 995 (or 110 with no SSL)

Select the desired preferences by checking the appropriate boxes:

  • Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server
  • Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail
  • Label incoming messages
  • Archive incoming messages

7. Click Add Account.
8. Once your account is successfully added, you can use this email as a From address. This way, you can compose messages within Gmail and have them appear to be sent from your cPanel email address. Check Yes to enable this functionality, then click Next.
9. Enter the Name you want to see in the From field and click Next Step.
10. Next, configure the settings as follows.
SMTP Server: the server your account is hosted on
Username: full cPanel email address
Password: password for your email account
Port: 465 (with the Secured connection using SSL option enabled) or 25 (with the Secured connection using TLS option enabled)
11. Click Add Account once all the details are filled in.
12. You may now check the verification code sent to your cPanel email address.
* As you have already added the account in Gmail, the code will be delivered to your Gmail inbox.
Paste the code in the corresponding field and click Verify to finish the setup process.

That is it! Once you have successfully connected your account, you will notice Gmailify added to your email address. When you access Gmail, you can read, respond to, and manage messages from your linked account in the same manner as you would with Gmail itself.
